This course is intended to give learners an understanding and basic practical knowledge of the fundamental aspects of modern office systems and technology which can help them gain employment as receptionists, secretaries or administrative staff. The course has a completely integrated approach and is based upon learner activity which incorporates Information Technology. To obtain the full qualification, learners must successfully complete five units. Half a day a week will be spent gaining practical work experience in the Business Centre at Bridlington. Students will also undertake a Level 2 IT Qualification. Progression is to employment as a receptionist or secretary, an RSA Administration Level 3 or any NVQ Level 3 course.

Assessment method
Certificate is awarded on the basis of continuous assessment by internal assessors and an external verifier. OCR text processing examinations can be taken at various times during the year.

Entry Requirements
Students must have good general level of education including English and Maths; satisfactory college interview; good communications skills and the ability to work with others.
